While most people were looking forward to the blizzard this weekend I suspect that many of the areas livestock producers were secretly relieved. Having a foot or two snow on the ground makes our animal’s days harder and the producer’s days longer. It always seems like the mechanical components of your enterprise choose the worse time to break down or to stop working altogether. Some of this is the actual weather hardening rubber gaskets or freezing lines and some of it just seems to be Mother Nature challenging us face on. There is more weather on the horizon this week so stay tuned to your local reports and get ahead of the action. This could involve moving hay early, checking the fluid levels in the generators, or prepping special shelters for our more vulnerable animals.
